Limbaugh Mocks Michael J. Fox's Ad

Comments

Rush Limbaugh did have a point when he said that Democrats use victims to make themselves seem infallible. It's true. But the thing is, Republicans do it too. Olbermann does have a point as well that Rush was trying to discount that infallibility by distracting from the message. And in this case, Olbermann chose to take only the part of Rush's rant that attacked Michael J. Fox, and not the part that was trying to point out the blatant appeal to emotion that the Democrats frequently use. He ignored the part that actually rang true, and because of that is no better than Rush Limbaugh himself.

I make no secret of it, I'm more Democrat than Republican, but I can't stand people like Limbaugh or Olbermann. These are *both* people who twist things to their advantage with no real commitment to the truth.

This is what's wrong with politics today. People resort to cheap means of argument, logical fallacies even, with no remorse. They trick the American people, and even perhaps themselves, into believing something about the opposite side that is only half true without ever admitting to their own mistakes. The whole thing make me feel sad and hopeless.

Sorry for the rant. :)
I can totally see your point, and I agree to a point. I guess, while all talk show hosts pick and choose their soundbites, Olbermann's wit and humor are front and center. He has fun rather than makes fun more often than not. Event the "stupidest person in the world" bit is done tongue in cheek. It seems to me that he doesn't take himself nearly as serious as most (barring Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert although I have to disqualify them since their shows are on Comedy Central and not a actual news channel like MSNBC).
